Christmas Knitting Update

One good thing I like about myself: I still appreciate a good toy.

Just because I haven't been posting doesn't mean I haven't been knitting. :-) Awhile back, I started a Bobbi Bear for Samwise the Nephew. By awhile back, I mean this past summer. It's languished in the basket with an inch of body done until I went over to Jen's, the fellow stitchin seminarian's, apartment.

Now Bobbi has a butt that I'm hoping will get filled out with stuffing over Thanksgiving.

I've also started the gefelted fish (TM, The Fiance) for the Brood. And because Lizzie's departure from blogging has given me pause to think about why I knit, why I blog and their connection, I DIDN'T TAKE A "BEFORE" PICTURE! :::gasp!::: But here's the after.

Pattern from The Knitter's Stash, using various colors of Brown Sheep Nature Spun Worsted and Knitpicks Wool of the Andes. These felted so comparably that I will use them together again and again.

I've got a hat on the needles, two scarves...and I've lost a pair of socks that I'm supposed to be making. No CLUE where they went. I'm hoping that I left them in Pittsburgh and will find them over Thanksgiving.

Moving onto More Serious Stuff

I need some opinions from all of you. You see, I'm leaving seminary. I need some time to get my head together, to make room for God's grace. In other words, I'm doubting whether or not I want to be a pastor. Should I change my blogger's handle? I may never return to seminary. Should I turn it into an unpronounceable symbol? Leave it the way it is? Any suggestions?

Oy. Time to get back to packing.

Like a Swiss Army Knife!

One thing I like about myself is that I appreciate the past.

Jean guessed, like, five minutes after I posted! Way to go Jean!

This is, in fact, my grandmother's knitting spool (or knitting knobby as my mother called it). Legend has it that my great grandfather, a bit of a tinkerer, made this for her when she was a child, somewhere in the 1920's.

My mother had one too, as I said in the comments yesterday. Her's had thicker posts (thank God!) and was bright red in color. Like this one!

I think I had it for a month and then broke it.

Sigh...you know what, my roommate just interrupted me in the most offensive way. I don't really feel like finishing this. I'm sorry. Maybe it'll be a story some day. Rah!

What's she been up to?

One thing I like about myself is that I'm starting to enjoy life again.

Since I've been gone from the blog for so long, I figured I'd give you a brief montage and commentary of what I've been up to in the past week or two.

FINALLY getting a picture of the fiance's scarf as well as providing instruction on "How to Wear a Scarf" Lesson 1: A scarf is not a tie, do not attempt to twist it around into Full Windsor or even a Half Windsor.

Final Picture

Any guesses on what this is? Tune in to tomorrow's AM entry. Who out there is truly old school?
