Bittersweet

It's been more than a little chaotic here recently. Just a little. Things don't really get out of hand too often. There's little shouting or fighting. But there's weekly crying & daily wishes to just give up, pop in a West Wing DVD, curl up in a ball and suck one's thumb. In reality, we don't really notice the stress until we realize something big got skipped. Like the wedding we're going to this Saturday? We're not going to NEED a hotel, are we??

Here's the updates:

House: We're a little over two weeks from the closing. I've got an estimate from MY insurance guy (neener neener NEEN-er), we're waiting on Justin's. Nothing is packed, it just that we haven't UNPACKED any of the stuff that we seem to be acquiring at an alarming pace.

The Sun Room:

The Living Room: (No, that's not a mistake. You can't get INTO the living room right now. Hopefully by dinner.)

Why is nothing packed? Because we don't know if we're moving yet. The results of the inspection turned up some things and we're (and they're) scrambling to get estimates for some pretty big projects. We granted an extension til the 16th, they requested one (which we granted) for the 23rd. Which means we WON'T know if we're moving until a WEEK before the closing, 2 weeks before we move.

Wedding: The wha?

Stash Enhancement:

With all the bittersweetness going around (we are floored by people's generosity, but we gotta move all the stuff, we're excited to move but want to cry at the process), it's fitting that it slide into the knitting universe. Pittsburgh Knit & Bead, the store that I drove past going from seminary to home 4 years ago and made me think, "that would be so cool to try that!" has finally decided to close its doors. There are many reasons people stopped going there (including myself), some sad, some angry, some that make me want to pull my hair out, but the bottom line is that her lease is up and she's moving on. Yesterday commenced the 50% portion of the sale. I left nothing for the rest of you.

On the bottom, 3 skeins of Skacel Unikat, 100% merino in a lot of jewel tones that I wish the camera brought out (another Fall Fussilli scarf may be in the works). On top of those, Artful Yarns Museum, which is going to go directly into helping me finish some wedding knitting. Next pile, 6 skeins of Crystal Palace Cotton Chenille to make guest washcloths for the new bathroom (black, white, & bright). And on top of that, two skeins of Knit One Crochet Too Sprinkles. The most dedicated of readers (hi, Stacie, how was the honeymoon??) will remember the Spiderweb Shawl from AEONS ago. Same yarn, white instead of black. She had 4 skeins, I almost took them all, but I thought that making me a little formal scarf would only require two. I think the shawl took 3.
And finally, the book which was a complete impulse buy. I hope that it'll be good for a few years anyway. Sorry the picture is so crappy. I'm not exactly taking time today.
